CRYSTAL BOWERSOX ADDED TO 12TH ANNUAL POWER TO THE PEACEFUL (PTTP) LINE-UP

Crystal Bowersox has been added to the line-up for the 12th Annual Power to the Peaceful Festival (PTTP) in San Francisco on September 11th. Created and hosted by Michael Franti, the festival will take place at Speedway Meadow in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and is one of the nation’s largest free annual music festivals with over 50,000 attendees, featuring a variety of international musicians, visual artists and over 200 exhibitors and green vendors.

Michael Franti Pushes Up 'Sound of Sunshine' Release

Thirteen years later, Michael Franti is right back where he started. After releasing several independent albums, the barefoot troubadour and band Spearhead are now signed to Capitol -- the major the act left in 1997 after releasing two albums.
 
"I guess it goes to show you, don't burn any bridges," Franti says with a laugh during a recent tour break in San Francisco. "You always want to be welcomed back."

Bonnaroo's headliners this year may include southern rockers Kings of Leon and hip-hop royalty Jay-Z, but that doesn't mean that Michael Franti doesn't own the fest as much as the others. He's in the running, along with Les Claypool, My Morning Jacket and Widespread Panic for most amount of Bonnaroo appearances -- and he's right at home at the festival. As is par for the course, he had the crowd jumping and bouncing along as he led his band, Spearhead, through all the standards including 'Yell Fire' and 'East to the West.'
