Did you know it's possible to give yourself a surprise birthday gift? It's true, I did it to myself. I wanted to treat myself this past year, and as my birthday was on a holiday weekend I was looking for things to do. I've always liked going to concerts at the Pier 6 Pavilion here in Baltimore MD. and I saw that the Wailers were coming to town that Saturday. They were an opening act for some guy named Michael Franti, whom I had never heard of. Now I didn't know the Wailers were still touring, and I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to see them.

When I tell someone I went to Vegas last weekend I'm sure the ideas of a typical Vegas weekend probably pop into their mind, but that's pretty far away from my experience. Sure, I put some money into some of those pretty shiny slot machines and I didn't get it back but that was incidental to everything else.

I went to Vegas with just my spouse but we met people Friday and hung out with another couple until the early hours that night. Then we met up with another couple at their pool cabana the next day. People were so nice and kind and generous and so so happy to be there.
