I Dream of Opening for Michael and Spearhead. One Day....REALLY!

It's December 10th 2011 and the full Moon is in the midst of a full eclipse, which is an interesting synchronicity. As I express this dream of mine into form, which I completely believe with all seriousness is possible, this rare eclipse is about to capture the wonder and awe of thousands, if not millions of viewers. Why? Because it's a divine and amazing sight. I wanna sing a song of inspiration and love to the whole world on a big loud stage one day, with the moon and the infinite sky as my backdrop. And I know it's not too much to ask for! And to be honest, what gives me hope, is Michael!

Hi friends,

My new single "Holiday in Oakland" includes a shoutout to Michael as part of a rap on some of the great musicians who have come out of Oakland, CA. Half the proceeds from song sales will benefit a poetry workshop for kids 12 years old and younger at the Allendale Rec Center near my home (I did a similar summer workshop a couple of years ago, with a marvelous recital at the end including musicians, which the kids and parents loved -- these are folks in the challenging part of the hood). Please support in this small way and spread the word!

Looking Back

I am so excited to share this video. I was very fortunate to work on this project with photographer and videographer Kurt Reinhart. Some of my most profound experiences as an artist have happened when I've painted on stage with musicians. There is a synergy that happens between the band, the artist and the audience. I hope this inspires the same excitement as seeing a painting being made at a concert. So often we see a piece of art finished, framed and hanging on the wall but the magic happens in the process. Enjoy!
