What is the sound of sunshine?
To me, it’s a feeling, that feeling when I am so thankful to be alive;
It’s that feeling of uncontrollable bliss.
The sound of sunshine is wakin’ up and seeing a new day where everything is possible.
It’s the beauty of nature, peace between nations, and love for strangers.
It’s hope for a better day, hope for the lost, and hope for those who need some love.
The sound of sunshine is being surrounded by those we love and by those who need love.
It’s the sound I hear when children are singing and playing with no care in the world.

What a fantastic time for this song to come out! The minute I heard it on the 4th of July at your concert, I knew I loved it. It speaks to my heart in a way that makes me want to listen to the song over and over and over. It breaths hope into my life...."here I am, just waiting for this storm to pass me by." I know a lot of people have it worse then me right now and I am thankful for the blessings in my life, so let me explain. Last summer, my husband and I had our first son. I became a stay at home mom and so losing one entire income was a hard hit for us, but it was worth every penny lost.

Michael Franti Pushes Up 'Sound of Sunshine' Release

Thirteen years later, Michael Franti is right back where he started. After releasing several independent albums, the barefoot troubadour and band Spearhead are now signed to Capitol -- the major the act left in 1997 after releasing two albums.
 
"I guess it goes to show you, don't burn any bridges," Franti says with a laugh during a recent tour break in San Francisco. "You always want to be welcomed back."
