"What Does The Sound of Sunshine Mean to Me" Contest Winners Selected

The Sound of Sunshine is my attempt to bottle the feeling of hope, optimism, and positivity that you get when you first see the sun in the morning, or watch it going down at the end of the day. I wrote the album as I was coming back from a near fatal ruptured appendix. Everything in my life at that time took on a new significance. I was grateful for even the smallest things, like a smile, or seeing my friends and family.

What the Sound of Sunshine means to me

When I first heard this song, I was at your concert, 34 weeks pregnant with our daughter and as I danced around, all I could think of was if she felt the same way I did in there- utter happiness. She came into this world calm and smiling, perhaps because of the way this song made me feel. She is my Sound of Sunshine, she is the one I wanna be with, when the sun goes down.

What the "Sound of Sunshine" means to me is the hope for and the gratefulness for another day. The past year has been life changing for me, everyday I have asked myself if the change is for the better or for the worst.

Just before leaving to go to the Dr.'s office with my mom to go to what they call Chemo College, I read about TSOS2ME contest. I had recently made her a CD with a compilation of songs on it that I considered "joyful" and track #1 The Sound of Sunshine on the CD, entiled "Joy" was playing when we got in the car. I quickly whipped out my camera and documented our drive to the Dr.'s office. it was such a beautiful sunny day and I always get a kick out of my mom trying to sing any song. She is notorious for messing up the lyrics--which makes it all the more priceless considering the destination.
