Grand Rapids 6/9/10
What a show!
Michael did an free acoustic set--at 6pm--really cool--it was nice to see him up close! He even did a request: Hello Bonjour (one of my favs!)
One Eskimo opened the show--they are an awesome band but need to work on their stage presence. Their musical skills are awesome, but you have to involve your crowd! Really loved their drummer who was just having fun and it was so apparent!
MF and crew came on and from the time they were on till the time they left there was not a still body in the crowd. We were jumping, clapping, singing along and just having fun. I read a blog that said that the show can appear to be loose---I could understand that but really we need more shows like this. We need singers who are willing to not remain in the traditional sterile form of performance. That is the talent that MF and crew really bring to their shows. They have awesome spirits and it completely effuses from them into the crowd and amps up the experience.
Jay boogie, Carl and Dave all were phenomenal as always. I love how they interact with each other during the sets---so fun!
Manas was off the chain last night--with a djembe solo that was fantastic--and his vocal skills do not disappoint!!!!
The only thing I would have loved to see is more of Joleen---the woman has amazing vocal skillz (my fav song: Mama's Eyes)!!!
Overall, really amazing show. You can clearly see such a unified crew whose primary intention is to put on an awesome show and the benefits are awesome!
Do not miss an opportunity to see MF and crew in concert--you will leave feeling love and happiness and possibly if you are lucky--leave being given a seed of inspiration to share love with your universe.
