Surprise!
Did you know it's possible to give yourself a surprise birthday gift? It's true, I did it to myself. I wanted to treat myself this past year, and as my birthday was on a holiday weekend I was looking for things to do. I've always liked going to concerts at the Pier 6 Pavilion here in Baltimore MD. and I saw that the Wailers were coming to town that Saturday. They were an opening act for some guy named Michael Franti, whom I had never heard of. Now I didn't know the Wailers were still touring, and I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to see them. I checked out the link to YouTube to see a video of this guy Franti's music and I was like OK, not bad, it won't be a total loss to see this guy too. Well I was blown away by Michael and the Spearheads. He was just fantastic, got the crowd so involved, it felt like a giant love fest. I don't remember ever having so much fun at a concert anywhere. This was even better than a Jimmy Buffett concert. Went to the stand where they were selling merchandise and picked up "All Rebel Rockers" gave it a listen, and was even more impressed. I started following Michael on Twitter, which led me to the Facebook site. I bought 2 more CD's and the DVD "I AM Not Alone". I also preordered "The Sound of Sunshine" album. That concert has just been the gift that keeps giving. I would have gone on the Zac Brown cruise too if I hadn't committed to working Labor Day. I can't wait for Michael and the Spearheads to come back this way again; you can be sure that I'll be there, and maybe at the pre-event yoga class too if I can make it.
