These were the weeks leading up to my mother's mastectomy. My niece Tallulah came to visit and she helped us all to see things a little differently. The tiniest things, through her eyes, became for us as if we were seeing them for the first time. Mom started chemo yesterday and by the end of the week she will no long have any hair left on her body. They say by the end of 12weeks she will be more tired than she has ever been in her entire life. We know this storm will soon pass but we will never forget all that we have learned about eachother, life and love along the way. And how now even the most insignificant moment of joy, the slightest giggle, a brief burst of laughter or the deepest sigh of relief is like the clouds parting and the sound of sunshine coming down.
