You choose your emotion

I just returned from an intense two month trip to Ghana, West Africa. My little non-profit has given birth to a project that is small, rife with learned lessons and focused on health and clean water issues. It is stunning to me to see the contrast of the world we live in. Coming back to a United States where so much of the news is centered on a man in Gainsville, FL set on burning a Holy book.

Still I see in this man, this pastor in Gainsville, FL a seed of good. And I think that is what counts. I could say, "I hate him for what he represents." But, then I choose the same emotion that he has chosen, and where does that lead me?

The spiritual journey, whether named or unnamed, is about one thing: the relearning of love. You choose to be spiritual because you want to feel that emotion, and you do it through having faith, in yourself, god, or this universe.

So in this moment of my spiritual journey, I choose love and I choose to believe that even in this man there is love.

Deep respect for my journey, for this space, and for my universe.
