Michael Franti's Bryan Stow Campaign

  • April 7, 2011

"My heart goes out to Bryan Stow and his family. As a long time Giant's fan, the Dodgers have always been our rival, but never our enemy. I hope that this act of senseless violence can serve as a reminder to all of us that baseball is a game of fun and passion and that this tragedy brings out the best in both of our communities."

Michael Franti touched by the sad story of Bryan Stow, a 42-year-old paramedic, father of two and local San Francisco Giants fan who was wearing the team's shirt and walking with his family was randomly beaten at L.A.'s Dodger Stadium after the opening game. Stow shows signs of brain damage and remains in critical condition and in a coma after he sustained a severe skull fracture and bruising to his brain’s frontal lobes, said Dr. Gabriel Zada, a neurosurgeon. This act of random, unprovoked violence has stirred Franti to drive a campaign to help the family and will partner with local Bay Area radio station KFOG http://www.kfog.com/  asking people to donate to Bryan Stow Family Foundation-A fund to defray medical costs and travel expenses for Stow's family established by his employer/AMR (PARAMEDIC).

A support fund has been set up at the SF Police Credit Union for Bryan Stow by his family.
